Trip Leaders Autumn & J.C. are teaming once again with Ecclesia Hollywood’s partner ministry, Christian Freedom International (CFI), for their third Southeast Asia Outreach Trip. CFI’s main objective is to help persecuted Christians in communist countries, under military dictatorships, or anywhere else they suffer for their faith. They also minister to the other persecuted ethnic and religious minorities in those areas.

Joining the Autumn & J.C. this year are three fellow Ecclesians: Mike, Kahle, and Mick.

Tentative Itinerary

This trip will potentially include:

  • Helping the Karen refugees and orphans in Thailand and Burma, who are being exterminated by the Burmese government.
  • Supporting the Freedom Fighters in Burma who are defending the Karen.
  • And also in Burma -- possibly helping the victims of the recent cyclone devastation, as well as supporting the underground church.
  • Providing medicine, supplies, and doctoral/dental care for the underground Christians and ethnic minorities in Laos.
  • Encouraging and helping persecuted Christians in Vietnam.
  • Smuggling illegal Bibles into Communist Laos and Vietnam.

Guess What The Team May Experience?

  • Squat toilets!
  • Sleeping in primitive conditions. (Jungle huts!)
  • Itineraries changing last minute.
  • Packing and unpacking their backpacks daily.
  • Going for days on little sleep.
  • Getting a cold, traveler’s tummy, the runs, and even (despite precautions) contracting malaria or dengue fever.
  • Having to eat (or at least taste) whatever is offered by a host. (Mystery meat, anyone?)
  • Rustic means of travel -- i.e. longtailed boats, backs of pickups, tractors, trekking, etc.
  • Witnessing medical or dental procedures… and perhaps having to lend a hand!
  • Preaching an impromptu (hence, unscripted) sermon or giving their testimony on the spot.
  • Laying hands on or praying for the sick and persecuted.
  • Time spent with heavily armed Freedom Fighters and other military personnel, who are protecting the persecuted Karen refugees.
  • Being detained in immigration.
  • Or even deported.
  • And even possibly: a smooth, predictable, and comfortable trip. (You never know!)

All in All

This outreach trip is an amazing opportunity for the Ecclesia Southeast Asia Outreach Team to minister to their brothers and sisters in Christ who are living under extreme conditions and persecution. Most who go on trips like these return spiritually transformed and inspired by what God is doing in and through these people. And YOU can be part of the home team -- praying and supporting the team in the field and the Christians (and other ethnic minorities) they’ll be ministering to in Southeast Asia. Which, when you think about it, IS the MOST important need of all. Because it’s not about the church sending five people, it’s about the five people BRINGING YOU!

We are raising as much as we can to help as many as we can. 100% of funds raised will be spent/given/donated during this trip.
